‘Hell’s Kitchen’ review: The final two (or three) are…

Hell's Kitchen

Hell’s Kitchen” is devising quite a strategy for keeping us waiting these days. Since it would apparently be far too easy for the show to actually let us know who the final two are going to be a week before the last episode aired. We guess that they are doing this to ensure that more people watch and don’t stop because their favorite has been sent home … but would that really stop watching at this point in the season? We don’t think so.

Let’s start with the shock on our end that we really didn’t know going into this episode who was going to be sent home at the end. There was a part of us that assumed that Ja’Nel would be in the final two, but she is still waiting to hear her fate. Meanwhile, we already know that Cyndi is gone, which we only somewhat expected since she had the smallest edit out of the people remaining.

But who saw Mary as the first person into the finale coming? We had her pegged to maybe get a black jacket, but sent home shortly after that. She has improved by leaps and bounds over the course of the competition, even if her butchery techniques freak us out.

Now, we’re left with Ja’Nel versus John, who have both been pretty strong. Personally, we expect and are even rooting for the former to make the finale, mostly just to prove yet again that the women ruled this season like nobody’s business. With that being said, John was probably the only guy all season we didn’t want to boo off the stage.
