‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Simpsons’ to air crossover episode in 2014

Family Guy

This may very well be the clash of the cartoons that you never saw coming: “Family Guy” and “The Simpsons” are joining forces. It was the idea dangling off the tip of your tongue that you were too afraid to say out loud, thinking that it could never possibly happen in a thousands years. However, you have to at least think that just based on potential alone, we could have a pretty epic TV event on our hands.

Sadly, there’s not much information that has been released, save for the following: There will be a crossover episode of “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” at some point in 2014, and it should feature characters from both shows equally. Does this mean that Peter Griffin could be at Moe’s Tavern, or Bart bringing Stewie along for an adventure or two? Both have potential to be thoroughly entertaining.

What we can at least say with some certainty is that we’re keen to see what show’s team gets to have the most creative input here. Seth MacFarlane’s show has taken a few shots at “The Simpsons” over the years, and in one episode, these shots were taken completely literally. We cannot imagine this story being anything altogether substantial, and we figure most of the time will be spent with set-ups and one-liners.

To us, there really is no middle ground here at all. This is either going to be one of the most amazing episodes of animated TV ever, or a giant disappointment that should never be spoken of again. We wonder if both parties were hesitant to go through with this, but there was one simple thing that convinced them: Ratings! Everyone wants to see the shows deliver big numbers, and this is the best way to guarantee it’ll happen.

What is your prediction here for the crossover: An amazing experience, or bona fide disaster? Vote in our poll below, and you can read more news when it comes to “The Simpsons” moving forward over at the link here.
