‘CarterMatt Chat’: Talking Cory Monteith’s tragic death, Finn Hudson’s legacy

Cory MonteithWhile this is just our third edition of “CarterMatt Chat,” we have to say without a doubt that this is the most difficult video that we’ve produced. It is tragic and terrible to be talking about the death of any star of television, a genre that we love and hold very dear, but it is even more difficult to discuss when it is an actor who has passed far too soon.

In this video, we discuss not only the news about “Glee” star Cory Monteith’s passing, but also the reason why we have all become so attached to these characters and actors as viewers, fans, or even as journalists. Cory was a kind-hearted, sweet guy, and we discuss what we hope will be his legacy both on-screen and off as a source of inspiration and hope for generations to come.

Also, we briefly discuss what the future could hold for “Glee,” and our hope that the show pays proper tribute to his memory whenever it does come back on the air. This is a situation that is going to likely evolve by the day, as there are going to be many heartbreaking and difficult meetings ahead for Ryan Murphy, the cast, and the staff behind-the-scenes at the show.

For those of you who have not heard the news, Monteith was found in a Vancouver hotel room late Saturday night, and authorities on the scene report that he had clearly been dead for hours prior to their arrival. He was 31 years old, and it may take weeks before a definitive cause of death is known.
