‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith found dead in hotel room

Cory MonteithWe are saddened today to bring you the news that one of our favorite “Glee” stars, Cory Monteith, has passed away at age 31. There are not many details available right now, save for the revelation that he was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver. It has been said that he had already passed by the time police first arrived on the scene.

This shocking news of his death was confirmed by his rep in a statement that read as follows:

“We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”

At this point no cause of death has been reported and an autopsy will be conducted. However, this can take several weeks to come to completion. There is currently not any foul play suspected, but we are going to have more details for you as they surface.

Monteith had admitted in past interviews to having a troubled childhood, one that included a history of drug abuse during his teenage years. He eventually started work on shows like “Kyle XY” or a number of projects filmed in the city, which has a robust production slate. Landing the part on “Glee” was the move that made him into a household name, and he played Finn Hudson for the first four seasons. He did, however, leave season 4 early in order to attend a treatment center and left there in April of this year.

We are sending our deepest condolences to all of Cory’s loved ones in this tragic time.
