‘The Newsroom’ season 2 premiere video: Will McAvoy’s awkward meeting
Is Will ever going to be in a good mood on “The Newsroom” season 2? If he is, he’s certainly not keen to show it in one of the first sneak peeks that we have to share for Sunday night’s season premiere.
In this clip, Jeff Daniels’ character has the opportunity to re-meet a man in Jerry Dantana who he already knows from a meeting in Washington. Granted, it does not really seem that he remembers him from anything more than his face, and is trying to put on a facade. What we get from this brief tete-a-tete is actually pretty simple: Will is still in a very bad mood, is extremely resistant to change, and has no real interest in doing anything that Jerry wants to cover. He also misses Jim, who has hit the road with the Romney campaign and will be away for at least a certain percentage of the season.
The other thing that makes this clip so entertaining is Olivia Munn’s Sloan barging into the room, and proclaiming that she has some big news when it comes to drone strikes. How much interest does Will actually have in this story? About as much as he did with Jerry’s story. We just love that Sloan brings in a blank sheet of paper as a prop, just so that she can reinforce the point and act like she is looking at something incredibly important.
