‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Adam Lambert latest ‘American Idol’ alum to sign on

Adam LambertAre you ready for quite a big surprise? We certainly did not see this one coming, but “Glee” has booked Adam Lambert for a major guest-starring role this coming season. There had been pretty much zero buzz about something like this happening, but it just goes to show that things can be kept a secret in this industry if the right people know to stay silent.

This news was confirmed in a post on Twitter by executive producer Ryan Murphy, who did not provide any further details save for the fact that he would be joining the cast this fall. The easy assumption is of course that he will play someone associated with the New York City storyline, and will probably do some performing given his background.

We are also pretty sure that this casting will create some speculation that Adam could be out of the running to join “American Idol” as a judge this coming season, but we’re not willing to say that just yet. Instead, consider the possibility that his filming schedule is worked out with auditions, and if he is just around for the fall, it’d be a way to get him some extra promotion. (That’s just all speculation, though, and we’re happy that he lands this gig.)

There are also two other very interesting ironies that we find when it comes to this casting:

1. Adam is the second former “American Idol” contestant in the past few months to join the show, as Jessica Sanchez has also done the same as Friday Romero.

2. For years, many publications were writing speculative stories about this casting happen as a way to just get pageviews, and there was never actually any evidence of it happening until now.
