House of the Dragon season 3 spoilers: More on ‘pain’ ahead

Sunday’s House of the Dragon season 3 premiere certainly looks to be iconic at this point, and there are a couple of reasons why.

Where is the right place to start? Well, it is worth noting that we are gearing up for the Battle of the Gullet, something that has been made iconic thanks to Fire & Blood. It is also an opportunity to see a story that really should have been at the end of season 2. Everything we saw last season is going to loom large as multiple parties take to the high seasons. It is going to be big, violent, and arguably one of the most expensive sequences the show has ever done.

Speaking about what is ahead to TV Guide, actor Steve Toussaint (who plays Corlys) uses another form of iconic media as a comparison for what is to come:

“Do you remember the movie Rocky III with Mr. T as Clubber Lang? … There’s a moment when they ask Clubber Lang a question: ‘What do you predict for the fight?’ All he says is, in this gritted teeth way, ‘Pain.’ That is Episode 1 this season: pain.”

No matter what happens throughout the battle, it does appear as though the ripple effects are going to be rather large. There are of course the Green and Black factions at war with each other, but the truth is that things are far more complicated than that. You have multiple other components to the story that need to be examined here! Over the course of the season you will seemingly see more people roped into both sides just because of necessity or some other agendas — this is without even noting that Rhaenyra is also hoping to bank on some new dragon-riders who have little to no experience doing anything.
