The Vampire Lestat: Sam Reid on playing Jarda

We knew entering the premiere of The Vampire Lestat on AMC that Sam Reid had his work cut out for him as Lestat this season. Just think of everything that he is tasked with! Not only is he thrust into the spotlight more than ever this season but he also has to sing … and beyond that, he also has to take on the role of a double in Jarda.

Does Jarda look a tiny bit different than Lestat? Absolutely, and that is by design — and yet, it is still Reid getting a chance to play this part and bring something a little bit different to the table. We presume that this in itself is pretty darn exciting for him to do.

Speaking to TVLine, Reid had the following to say about Jarda, almost foreshadowing that he could have a larger role to play in due time:

“That’s the dream, isn’t it, that you don’t want people to recognize him? … We do have a little bit of prosthetics to try and distort me a bit, but he exists for a reason.”

The fun thing about where we are right now on The Vampire Lestat as a series is that because of the way in which the show is playing with time, they are trying in some ways to disarm us and make us question almost everything. There are a number of characters who matter greatly to getting us to that auction — with Gabriella being arguably the chief among them — but the question is precisely how we make it there. We tend to think it is going to be a wild and pretty uneven road along the way.
