‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: Nearing the starting line

Supernatural“Supernatural” fans, the wait is almost over. Not only do we now seemingly have a start date for season 9 production, we’re also lucky enough to have a specific start date for the madness: Tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. local time in Vancouver. (This was confirmed in a post on Twitter by location manager Russ Hamilton.)

While all major plot points are for now being kept carefully under wraps, what we expect to see during these opening episodes is the sort of “what comes next?” situation after Dean refused to let Sam sacrifice himself at the end of last season, and we saw Castiel and many other angels fall back to earth. When you consider titles like “Devil May Care,” we almost expect an epic battle between Heaven and Hell to be waged pretty soon.

We know that filming is being done out of order, with “Devil May Care” (which is actually 9×02) being filmed first. Presumably, filming on the premiere will come after that. Filming a show like this can be a rather fun but also complicated process, given that you have so many different guest actors to try and work with, multiple locations, and of course visual effects. You also have to be prepared for some pretty long days on set, especially for Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. They’ll be kicking things off this week, and they will continue to go full-tilt (with a few holiday breaks in there, among other things) until at least mid-to-late April and possibly longer, given how long production takes on the 23 episodes.

What do you expect to see during some of these early “Supernatural” episodes? If you want to read some more scoop on production and other matters, you can do so over at the link here.
