America’s Got Talent video: Meet magician Geno Ploeger
In just a matter of days you are going to see the latest America’s Got Talent arrive on NBC — do you want to see more of Geno Ploeger? Let’s just say that in terms of potential, this may be one of the best magicians we have seen in quite some time.
When you think about magic acts on this show in general, there are a few things that you ultimately want to see. First and foremost, it is important that you have a chance to watch someone with real showmanship, who is able to tell a story through some of their work. Having a great magic trick is impressive, but you have to introduce and sell it. Sometimes, they take time to effectively deliver! Geno has that and while we have seen a number of other close-up card magicians over the years, there is something to be said for his enthusiasm and love of the craft. We do think that AGT makes too much sometimes of the age of some of its contestants; yet, there is something about Geno being only 21 that is mind-boggling. Magic is not one of those skills you really perfect until later on in your adult life when you have been performing for decades. You need to have a lot of the nerves vanquished and beyond just that, your skill perfected. He is already really sleek and professional at this age, so where could he be in several years?
After watching all of this, we do think that we are looking at someone who is a lock for at least multiple rounds of the live shows. It is no shock at all that Mat Franco is one of his heroes, and we know just how successful he has been since his first season aired over a decade ago.
