Is Marshals new tonight on CBS? We certainly do not blame anyone who is out there excited for the future of the Luke Grimes series. The most-recent episode ended with a lot of great question marks regarding the future, and also even opportunities to show off more of the greater Yellowstone universe.

So are we about to dive head-first into whatever is next here? Well, let’s just say that this is where we do have to share some of the bad news: Not so much. There is no installment of the series tonight, as last week marked the season 1 finale. Marshals has already been renewed, so you at least do not have to be concerned over that — you merely just have to wonder when it will actually be back for more.

Given most of the conversation that we have heard as of late, it does appear as though production on the next iteration of the show is going to be happening sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, CBS has already committed to having it on Sundays this fall, meaning that we are going to see the premiere in either late September or early October.

In general, we tend to think that the show is going to need to figure out that Cal-centric cliffhanger the moment the show comes back. Beyond that, we’re also just eager to see how the writers make use of the fact that we have a pretty committed Big Bad in Weaver, and that does mean that there is really something that the show can play around with if they choose to. We tend to think that the best thing Marshals can do in general is take chances. Do we recognize that it has a specific formula thanks to it being on CBS? Sure, but there may also be little chances to break it here and there. Why not embrace some of that?
