Shrinking season 4 spoilers: Karen Gillan signs on

We have some of the first major casting news now heading into Shrinking season 4 over on Apple TV, and let’s just say there are plenty of reasons for excitement.

After all, Variety is reporting this morning that Doctor Who / Jumanji actress Karen Gillan is coming aboard the Jason Segel comedy in what is going to be a recurring role. There is no exact word on who she will be playing and yet, it feels like there are a wide array of possibilities.

What we do know at this point is rather simple, and it begins with the knowledge that there is going to be a time jump following the end of Shrinking season 3. That opens the door to a ton of possibilities. Is Alice still going to be in college? Will Paul find a way to get back to California? Is Jimmy actually going to make things work with Sofi? These are just some of the different ideas that we have dancing around in our head at the moment.

The most important thing that we know in regards to the show is that it is going to find a way to balance laughter and some meaningful moments involving the characters. There is no denying that the end of the third season was emotionally resonant and in that way, it could have served as a proper series finale. With that, we are in an interesting spot here where we are entering a great unknown with the show — it did not need to come back and with that we just hope that there is a story that is worth all of the hype and attention.
