Widow’s Bay season 2: Is a renewal all the more guaranteed?

Given that we are effectively at the halfway point of Widow’s Bay season 1 right now, we do feel rather confident about the future. How can we not? Not only is the horror / comedy hybrid critically acclaimed, but it also seems to be discovering viewers each and every week.
We will admit that going into the season, we wondered if the show had enough promotional juice behind it. We were, after all, talking about an all-new project with no established IP and a number of character actors beyond star Matthew Rhys. Yet, we are starting to think that was by design. Apple TV was hesitant to share much in advance out of fear they would give a little too much away. Meanwhile, word of mouth has been one of the greatest things the show has had going for it.

At the time of this writing, we should go ahead and issue a reminder that a Widow’s Bay season 2 has yet to be greenlit. However, the series has remained in Apple’s top three shows alongside such other notable hits in Your Friends & Neighbors alongside Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Both of those shows have big stars and stories that are a little bit easier to lay out and digest.
For Widow’s Bay, we are looking at a situation here that is about the long game and beyond just that, one that Apple likely equates to shows like Severance and Pluribus. These are ones that grew all the more popular once their seasons actually aired, and that could end up happening here, as well.
