Sheriff Country season 1 episode 19: The big Alec betrayal!

Given that Sheriff Country season 1 episode 19 was the second-to-last one of the season, didn’t it make sense for there to be a big reveal? Suffice it to say we got it, and in a way that could eventually shatter one Mickey Fox.

After all, it turns out that Alec is not what he presents himself to be in the slightest; after all, he is a cold-blooded killer, and seeing him execute Rick on the spot has us pretty darn nervous for what the future could be. Alec was clearly hired by Miranda to fix things around the operation, and he has a chance to operate perfectly in that Mickey and others, at least for now, appear to be none the wiser. The romantic arc allows him to be an enormous blind spot. Alec also was able to present the idea of him tracking down Rick as him simply doing his job.

We knew heading into the Sheriff Country finale that there would be a number of loose ends that everyone involved would need to tie up. Now, you can argue that the urgency is there more than ever. If Morena Baccarin’s character gets too close, could Alec kill her? Is someone else going to figure it out?

Of course, the thing we appreciate the most is that this was not necessarily the easiest twist to see coming. On network TV in particular, delivering a surprise like this is really hard to pull off! Now, it not only sets the stage for something big next week, but it could also connect in a pretty interesting fashion to season 2. We will just have to wait and see what that looks like when the dust actually settles.
