Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19: More on Connor Storrie role

We have known for a while that Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie would be appearing on Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19. However, who would have imagined that his role would end up being more than a single episode?
After all, our sentiment was that the actor would most likely be in an isolated guest role, one filmed before the hockey romance became a breakout hit and with that, there was no way for anyone to know that it would become a sensation. However, it turns out that the Paramount+ drama did see something more in him way back when, and extended his role beyond what was originally planned.

Speaking about this further to TV Insider, here is some of what showrunner Erica Messer had to say:
“First of all, we met Connor in Episode 4 and it was directed by Adam Rodriguez and he read for us. And so we were like, ‘Who’s this guy? He’s great. We love him.’ And he was only supposed to be in Episode 4 and he was so good that we were like, ‘No, he’s going to have a bigger role than we thought.’
“This was before any of us knew what his fall preview would be of Heated Rivalry … He’s just so good — not only crazy talented, but so kind, so funny, so wonderful to have on set. So, it was one of those things that we kind of adjusted the back half of the season to have his character have more agency in the story we were telling because he was so good.”
Within the span of the last year, Storrie has Heated Rivalry, this show, and also a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. Who knows what else could be coming for him?
Remember that this new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution will be premiering come May 28.
