High Potential season 3 premiere date pushed back; why?

For everyone out there excited to eventually see High Potential season 3 arrive over at ABC, let’s just say we have bad news.

What are we looking at here? Well, first and foremost, it begins with the fact that the network released the fall schedule today and unfortunately, the Kaitlin Olson series is not a part of it. This is no indictment, however, on the show’s performance, or a sign that it is going to receive less attention. As a matter of fact, the opposite here may be true more so than anything else.

Speaking recently to The Hollywood Reporter, Ari Goldman, senior vice president content strategy and scheduling at ABC, noted that the idea here is was to put High Potential on at

“We’ve had to take a number of breaks the first couple seasons with High Potential … In season one, it had more to do with a short first season order. Season two, it had the Dancing With the Stars lead-in [in the fall], and then get into holiday programming and it just gets a little bit choppy after that. So we’re thrilled to be able to bring it back with much more attention … We’re doing our best to make this a consistent viewing experience.”

Will this help the show out? Maybe, but you can also argue that it really did not need any help at all. We tend to think that there is at least some evidence that the midseason launch works thanks mostly to Will Trent, which has managed to remain a really successful show in following the same schedule one year after the next. Isn’t it somewhat easy to say that the same can work out here?
