American Idol season 25 premiere date hopes at ABC

Following the season 24 finale over at ABC, is there anything more we can say on American Idol season 25?
Certainly, it makes sense that there is a good bit to look forward to here regarding the singing competition, but let’s begin with the following: All signs point to it coming back. The casting process is already underway and given the series’ longtime history on the air, we do tend to think it would be publicized if this was the end. (Just think about when it ended at Fox.) The fact that season 24 was actually able to grow its live audience at times was pretty darn impressive so many years in.

Are there ways that American Idol could continue to grow its brand moving into next season? We do think some modernization could be done when it comes to at least the judging panel, especially with so little modern pop representation on there. The social-media voting was done to help bring in younger viewers and yet, more still could be done to try to recruit that demographic. We do think that some of the theme nights this season were successful, though there is an overrun of ballads and song choices we’ve heard a number of times over the years.
As for when season 25 will premiere…
We still tend to think that winter 2027 makes the most sense. There is little reason for ABC to change things much here, or even when it comes to the schedule. Strange as it may seem, we actually think it has been able to overtake The Voice as of late as the more relevant of the two shows. Personally, we think some of that has to do with it having a much better reputation for finding stars — even though some of them (take Benson Boone) withdrew from the competition in the earlier stages.
