‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Wayne Brady to return as Barney’s brother

Great news for all Wayne Brady fans: The actor / comedian / master of all things awesome when it comes to improv is going to be back on “How I Met Your Mother” for its ninth and final season. Also great news? That this role may be a little more substantial than what we have seen from him in the past.

In a new post on his official Twitter account, Brady confirmed the news when it comes to playing Barney’s half-brother James, who we have seen pop up on a few occasions over the past several years:

“Just got back from my 1st HIMYM fitting of the season! Can’t wait to shoot on Wed! You may be seeing a little more ‘James’ this season! Yes!”

The idea of James returning also raises the all-important question of how many other stars from “How I Met Your Mother” seasons past could we see grace the show again. At the top of our list has to be John Lithgow given his overall level of brilliance, but we’d also welcome a return for Ashley Benson after showing up as Barney’s half-sister last year. Plus, on the Robin side it would be appropriate if we did see Lucy Hale show up again, which more or less gives us half of the “Pretty Little Liars” on this show.

Brady has been a super-busy guy these past few months. In addition to hosting “Let’s Make a Deal” on daytime TV, he also is appearing in the revival of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” beginning a week from tomorrow on The CW, and has served as a guest judge on “So You Think You Can Dance.”
