‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Introducing Captain Explosion

We would assume that this would be virtually public knowledge, but we’ll say it anyway: If you have a guy coming on “America’s Got Talent” with the name of “Captain Explosion,” we can’t imagine that his act is going to be of the “safe” variety. As a matter of fact, it is probably going to be something so stupid that the vast majority of people would not even remotely consider taking it on in a million years.

So what is this talent exactly? While the video below does not make it completely clear, what we see is a guy getting into some sort of box in the middle of an open field, and then seemingly blowing himself up. There are a number of explanations to what we are seeing here: It’s possible that this guy is just some sort of insane daredevil, just as it is also possible that he is in actuality a magician pulling off some sort of trick (though granted, he looks much more like the former).

The one thing that we are assuming, at least for now, is that this guy must at least be reasonably good if the show is going to waste all of the time getting the judges outside to watch this act. Otherwise, they would just chill out indoors with him, poke fun, and then send him on his way. Even if he does advance, though, what does he do next? We don’t really know where there is to go after you blow yourself up on TV.
