NCIS season 23 episode 17 spoilers: More on Sam Hanna return

For those not currently aware, NCIS season 23 episode 17 is going to be an especially notable hour of television. After all, Sam Hanna is back! LL Cool J is poised to reprise his NCIS: Los Angeles role but beyond just that, also prepare for something new at the same time. Remember that he is on his way now to star in NCIS: New York, a show that is going to be on the CBS schedule starting this coming fall.

So what will the story be for Sam in his return to the flagship? Well, there could be some emotional and comedic moments — which makes sense, given that he has known the bulk of the team now for a rather long time.

Speaking on all of this further in a new interview with TV Insider, here is some of what Brian Dietzen (who plays Jimmy Palmer) had to say:

“Jimmy and Sam get stuck in an elevator together, and we got to figure our way out of that … And Sam is a guy with some words of wisdom, so he’s really helping Jimmy through some stuff. Jimmy’s had a tough couple of years. It’s a really fun, fun special episode.”

If we are lucky, we are going to have a situation here where there are a lot of nostalgic and interesting moments through Sam’s return here — and for Jimmy in particular, hopefully a great sense of where his story could be going from here. After all, it certainly feels like there is a lot left to explore here beyond what we have had a chance to see so far.
