Big Little Lies season 3 premiere date: A spring 2026 update

Is there a chance we are going to hear something more about a Big Little Lies season 3 premiere date between now and the end of the spring?

First and foremost, we should really just note that the past few months in particular have been great for getting some long-awaited updates on the future of the show. Francesca Sloane was brought on board to write the first episode, plus both Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have expressed excitement about coming back to this world. All of this makes us more eager to get back into this world in the relatively near future.

So now that we’ve said all of that, are there realistically going to be more updates before the spring is over? We’d love that but at the same time, it feels rather unlikely. The reality here is that we are looking at a situation where we will be lucky to learn a lot more about the future at all until at least the summer or the fall, which is when Big Little Lies season 3 could start filming. Witherspoon and Kidman are right now working on The Morning Show and then Scarpetta, meaning that it is hard for them to do anything else right now.

For us, the most important thing right now is simply that the story of season 3 gives you a reason why it is coming back after a long time on the air. Season 2 managed to do that just enough but at the same time, we are not sure that anything has managed to hit the high highs that we experienced back in season 1. We’ll have to see if that can happen moving forward.
