‘The Newsroom’ season 2: Watch HBO’s full recap special now!

In a week from Sunday, HBO is going to bring back a program that we still feel is one of the finest things that television has to offer, even if there were some bumps in the road on the first season: “The Newsroom.” It was a sharp look at the cable news world, and a take on what is idealism in one of the most-scrutinized industries in modern history. No one is frequently under more suspicion than these individuals who chose to go about their daily lives try to report the news, and no one knows that better than one Will McAvoy.

In the video below, you can see all sorts of assorted highlights from the first season, beginning with that epic university rant about America not being the greatest country in the world anymore, to the events that led to where we will be at the start of the new season, with Will in a deposition over something that could tear Atlantis Cable News from the ground up. It’s going to be a cutthroat battle this coming year, and the narrative structure will be in some ways looking back on what has been, while at the same time discussing what is.

From a news standpoint, we’ve already confirmed that the financial crisis and the Presidential campaign are going to be two of the tent-poles of this year, as the show traditionally tries to look back on what happened around 9-15 months prior to the show airing, almost as a way to gain better perspective while in the writing process.
