Fallout season 3: Will there be a long wait?

As we get closer to the end of Fallout season 2, why not start to think on some level about season 3? We know, after all, that the show has already been renewed. By virtue of that, we have it under good authority that a lot of planning is already in the works.
Now, remember just what has to be done here before cameras can actually start shooting the Prime Video hit. Episodes need to be written, locations secured, and of course schedules fully organized for the cast. A lot of this is a process that understandably can take several months.

Now, let’s get to filming itself. According to Production List, it looks as though the plan is for the third chapter of the series to start filming on May 1 around the greater Santa Clarita area. This is the same location that we had for the second season, as Fallout has managed to get a great relationship together with the state of California.
When will we learn more about what the story here is?
Well, if we are lucky, we are going to find a little bit more out about the future when we get around to the end of the season 2 finale. We do wonder whether or not the next season is going to reference heavily another video game in the series. Season 2 has leaned heavily into New Vegas, and we have already seen some nods to the Commonwealth, a region that served as the primary setting for Fallout 4. We do recognize that the show is trying to tell its own story that is separate from the games; however, at the same time they are working to make it significant to anyone who is a longtime fan.
