Fargo season 6 renewal: A winter 2026 update

Between now and the end of this winter, is there any chance that we are going to hear more about a Fargo season 6 renewal?

We suppose that the first order of business here really should be noting that we are still one of those people who firmly wants to believe more of the series will be coming someday — even if we do still have to wait a rather long time. As many of you may be aware at present, showrunner / creator Noah Hawley is currently working on Alien: Earth, another series at FX that has a season 2 renewal. Even before the first season, he had expressed that the plan was to do at least two seasons of the sci-fi hit before venturing back to his other show … and this leads to where we are now.

Is there a chance that a season 6 gets greenlit before the winter is over? In theory sure, but in a way, that almost feels irrelevant since we have a hard time imagining that we would see another season air until at least late 2027, if not later than that. Alien: Earth season 2 would probably film first, meaning that a possible Fargo installment would likely not start filming until at least this coming winter. (Remember that this show relies often on certain climates in order to work properly.)

If nothing else, the silver lining with this series remains that it can come and go at any time and for the most part, the seasons are separate from one another. It does alleviate some of the pressure to rush into anything else. For now, we just hope that Hawley has even more time to create a proper story — one that can be every bit as good as what we saw throughout the awesome season 5.
