‘Elementary’ season 2 spoilers: Could Natalie Dormer return?

ElementaryYou really have to say that 2013 has turned out to be a rather good year for one Natalie Dormer. The actress had a stellar run on “Game of Thrones” earlier this year in her role as Margaery Tyrell, and she also had enough time in her schedule to film an arc of “Elementary” as Irene Adler, only for it to be revealed at the end of season 1 that she was actually the infamous Moriarty, and Sherlock Holmes had to do the difficult thing and take her down.

However, you also have to recognize something important when it comes to this character: Moriarty is to Sherlock what Lex Luthor is to Superman. There is no character out there as infamous in the Arthur Conan Doyle world, so you have to imagine that Dormer could return … but will she? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress was of course very coy about the odds of a reprisal:

“I’m sure it would take more than that to hold Moriarty in a jail cell, if I had to speculate.”

If Dormer does return, though, we do not figure it will be in the early stages of the season. That time will be saved instead for the arcs involving Sherlock and London, and the arrival of his brother on the scene. But what about his father? This character has been a mystery for some time, and it doesn’t appear that it is one that we will have an answer to in the immediate future. Producers are keeping this role in their back pocket, likely knowing that they have a big reveal whenever they bring him into the world.
