‘Elementary’ season 2 spoilers: This time, a ‘Spider-Man’ villain’s getting involved…

Elementary“Elementary” just keeps finding more and more ways to up their geek cred, which is not something we were even sure beforehand that a show all about Sherlock Holmes really even needed to do. First, we saw “Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer reveal herself to be Moriarty at the end of last season, and we’re learning now that the famous sleuth’s brother Mycroft is going to be played by none other than The Lizard from “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

Yep, sources are confirming that actor Rhys Ifans will be set to recur throughout at least the early part of “Elementary” season 2 as Mycroft Holmes, and he and Sherlock will go through some growing pains together. For the show’s September 26 premiere, we’ll get a taste of what these two brothers went through while growing up together, which we’re sure is not exactly like what we see the vast majority of times when it comes to siblings. (‘Tis the way of the world when one of you is a proven genius.)

We have super-high hopes for the show’s second season, especially given the nice little bump in the budget that is allowing the season premiere to take place in London. The storytelling improved as the season moved on, and we evolved beyond the bare-bones “solve this mystery” storylines; plus, Jonny Lee Miller was fantastic throughout, and were this not a year when you had so many other brilliantly-great actors out there, he could have even been in discussions to secure some sort of Primetime Emmy Award nomination.

If you want to hear more on Miller reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future, the story here shall be your guide! Enjoy it, and check back with us all summer to dive in to some more “Elementary” news.
