Is Sheriff Country new tonight on CBS? Of course, we would love nothing more than to have something more to share regarding the series now.
As for whether or not that is about to happen … well, in a word no. There is no installment of the Fire Country spin-off on the aforementioned network tonight, and nor will there be for the next several weeks. As for the reason why, it has very much to do with an extended hiatus for all of CBS’ Friday-night shows. They are all going to be collectively off for the Winter Olympics in February, and clearly it was decided that they did not want to bring them back this month, only to then take them off the air again for a long time after the fact.

So when you are able to dive back into Sheriff Country at the end of next month, the focus seems to be first and foremost on Travis’ fate — which makes sense, given what just transpired. We are smack dab in the middle of a two-parter right now and there is a lot of resolution we are expecting to get sooner rather than later. Beyond this, we’re sure that the series will navigate a little bit more into individual arcs and also new character revelations.
As we look far ahead…
CBS has already done the rare-but-very-nice thing of confirming already that there is going to be a season 2. That means that if you are writing the show behind the scenes, you do not have to worry about the inherent pressure of having to tie anything up. We do believe that the first season will end with some sort of big cliffhanger, one that raises several questions about the future.
