Fallout season 3: An early Todd Howard update

Yes, it is true that we are only a single episode into Fallout season 2 over at Prime Video — but did you think that is going to stop us from looking ahead? Hardly.

One of the most important things to note at this point is that the show has an already season 3 renewal, and that gives the entire creative team such a confidence boost to keep doing what they are. It also represents Prime Video being eager to make sure that there are no substantial hiatuses between seasons. That means that there will be a steady amount of momentum over the weeks ahead, and the season will more than likely end with some sort of tease for more Wasteland shenanigans. We know that a lot of season 2 has ties to New Vegas, and it would be interesting if there were more call-outs to other games in the series the rest of the way.

Speaking on things behind the scenes to Variety, here is what Todd Howard, an executive producer as well as one of the people most responsible for the games at Bethesda, had to say regarding the future:

“For us on the game and TV show side, we’re writing Season 3 now … We’re having those conversations now of, what are we doing in Season 3 for the TV show and what elements can we bring into our games at that time when it comes out that don’t feel forced or fake.”

Of course, the luxury of having a TV show at this point is that you can actually further along the story at a steady pace. With game development taking more and more time, who knows when we’re going to see a Fallout 5 game — the top priority for Bethesda right now is the next Elder Scrolls game, which they announced years ago and remains one of the most-anticipated releases of the decade.
