Survivor 50 trailer: Why is Mr. Beast there?

It is abundantly clear at this point that Survivor 50 is going to be full of iconic players and hopefully big moves. However, in the wake of the trailer reveal last night, we of course do have some major questions.

Take, for example, why in the world Mr. Beast is showing up on the island — and also why we are hearing about such names as Jimmy Fallon and Billie Eilish.

The trailer featuring the YouTuber and Beast Games star was certainly startling, and we also tend to think that this was meant to be the point. However, we also tend to think that the celebrity cameos are not going to be huge parts of the season. Instead, they will most likely just help to introduce twists and go on their merry way. This is probably a reference to how many big-name celebrity fans are out there of the show. Jeff Probst has said that he has zero interest in ever doing a celebrity season, so this is probably as close to that as we are going to get. (Of course, ironically this season does at least have one celebrity cast member in The White Lotus creator Mike White.)

What excited us most about the trailer personally was simply seeing some contestants who have not been on the show for a while, including Coach Wade and Jenna Lewis, who was a part of the very first season. Our general feeling at this point is that the winners are going to be the big threats, mostly because there are only a few of them on this season and they are the more recent champs. We don’t necessarily think that the Winners at War cast is necessarily gone from the franchise for good, but they would turn up at another time.
