Survivor 51: Does Derek Hough want to be cast?

Is Dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough eager to be the latest famous face to join the world of Survivor? Well, let’s just say that he at least has interest.
In a post on his Instagram Stories (per Entertainment Weekly), the pro dancer indicated that if Survivor legend Boston Rob Mariano were to step into the ballroom, he would be happy to take part in the CBS show. This is something that host and showrunner Jeff Probst was keen to respond to with a message of his own:
“I gotta say, I love that you just put this idea out into the ether, because I think you’re gonna be surprised how many of your fans are gonna want to see you compete on Survivor … And now that you’ve issued a dare to Rob, this could get interesting, ’cause you know as well as I do that Boston Rob is the kinda guy who will take that dare and end up winning Dancing With the Stars.”

Now, we should note that Probst has been vocal over the years about not wanting a celebrity version of his show; yet, we have seen famous people like Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Kent, and Lisa Whelchel compete on the show as everyday contestants. It could happen for Hough, but we imagine that he would be an immediate target due to a perception that he does not need the money. However, Derek is physically fit, so wouldn’t he be an asset for at least the early pre-merge game?
As for Boston Rob doing DWTS, this idea has been out there in the ether already. After all, his good friend and former Traitors US co-star Dylan Efron was on the show this past season, and he made it all the way to the finale.
