Fallout season 2 spoilers: Walton Goggins on The Ghoul’s perspective

We are a mere matter of days removed now from the Fallout season 2 premiere and by virtue of that, why not talk the characters further? The landscape of the nuclear wasteland is almost sure to get more chaotic moving forward, especially since so many are converging on New Vegas, a place that is really iconic within the source material.

While there are a few notable characters within this world right now, none stand out more than Walton Goggins as The Ghoul. This is someone who has already survived the unthinkable and is still actively looking for more answers when it comes to his family.

Speaking to Deadline, Walton Goggins himself was happy to express what makes The Ghoul / Cooper special at this point in the story:

“He has no control over the information that is coming to him, and he’s understanding in real time the world that he thought he knew no longer exists, and there is a chaotic kind of bent, if you will, to the world that he’s living in … And he’s just like any reasonable person trying to make sense out of something that can’t make sense.

“This show isn’t political in the sense that the writers of the show don’t overtly stand on a soapbox and preach. … You’re a part of a story that just so happens to dovetail very nicely into what’s going on in the world around it, and it’s just about timing more than anything else, and that’s really kind of where we find ourselves in Fallout. Luckily for us, we do it with absurdity and we do it with satire, and then we do it with real consequences.”

In general, it is our hope that moving into the second season, Cooper does get some element of answers — even if they aren’t what he wants. This is someone who has lived an unnaturally long life but through all of that, has never been able to get the information he wants. Could that be about to change?
