The Witcher season 4: Liam Hemsworth on Geralt casting

Later this year we are going to be seeing the premiere of The Witcher season 4 over on Netflix and with that, of course, means a new star. It has been well-reported at this point that Liam Hemsworth has stepped into the shows of playing Geralt, and has replaced Henry Cavill in doing so.
There is no denying at this point that this is a hard transition, especially since Cavill has passionate fans and was arguably the best part of the first three seasons. Hemsworth seems to understand the pressure that comes with the part, and luckily, he also seems to be passionate about both the material and the character.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in his first interview since landing the part, he admits that he was “surprised” that the role became open in the first place. He also noted how he dealt with all of the attention and complicated reactions to the casting:
“There was quite a bit of noise and I had to put that aside. It started to become a distraction … I dealt with that sort of thing in the past a lot and, you know, at the end of the day, I love making movies and I love telling stories and acting. I just don’t want any of that to affect my way of telling the story that I’m trying to tell. I jumped off social media and the internet most of last year.”
Now, we just have to see if he can actually deliver in the part, and if the producers surround him with a good story. We know already that season 4 is not the final one for The Witcher, as a season 5 is planned to give the show a fitting send-off.
