As we prepare for the end of And Just Like That season 3 on HBO Max, let’s just say we’ve been hit with a huge surprise. After all, it turns out that the end of this current season is also going to function as the end of the whole series!

We’re not going to beat around the bush here when we say that we are shocked, especially since we’ve gone through the past couple of months thinking that there could be more. However, executive producer Michael Patrick King and many key players decided some time ago that this would be the end, and that there were going to be twelve episodes in order to tie everything together.

Speaking in a statement per Deadline, here is what King had to say:

“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex And The City universe is coming to an end … While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12. SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”

Is there really going to be closure to Carrie’s whole story in here? It is possible but if we’re being honest, it is hard to imagine everything being tied up now. She just broke up with Aidan and unless she moves to be with Duncan, is there another romantic ending possible here? Of course, she could just end single and happy, as she’s never needed a relationship to find joy.
