‘The X Factor’ UK: Simon Cowell’s production may have life in it yet

X Factor NewsAnytime that a show reaches ten seasons, rumors of it’s shelf life start regardless of whether or not people actually want it to end. Add to this the explosion of singing competitions as a genre as of late, and you basically have a mob mentality forming against the likes of “The X Factor” in Britain. Like “American Idol” in the United States, it is the recipient right now of a flurry of criticism regarding whether or not there should be more, and if the genre of music (really sparked in many ways by the efforts of one Simon Cowell) is played out.

Luckily for you fans, one of the men in charge of ITV programming does not see it that way. In a chat with The Mirror, network boss Adam Crozier made it clear that despite the end of a contract coming up, there are still plans in place moving forward for the show to move on past its tenth season:

“It remains a very important programme for ITV. We’ve got to make sure we improve it and get it right.

“Funnily enough, we did the same with ‘I’m A Celebrity,’ which dipped a little bit two years ago, and it has been back stronger than ever. It is perfectly possible to do it. All these shows need a bit of love and attention and for things to change to keep people interested.”

In theory, Crozier is right that this series can be revived, and regardless of what the public may think at times, it is still one of TV’s most-popular shows. The two challenges with it are always (and will always be) finding the right contestants in a saturated pool, and getting judges who are willing to work with each other.
