‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Jessica Sanchez, and Kelly Clarkson’s TLC gig

American IdolThere’s a lot to dive into today when it comes to “American Idol”, but we’ll start with the reaction coming in regarding the breaking news regarding DOMA and the Supreme Court today, something that represents a huge step forward for marriage equality as couples who marry in states where gay marriage is legal will now be treated effectively the same by the federal government as heterosexual couples.

We’re not normally a big fan of any “celebrities react” stories since they mostly just feel like exploitation of irrelevant thoughts, but there is a certain amount of relevance in this case when you remember how hard some of these singers have fought to support the cause over the past several months and years.

Kelly Clarkson – “Yeah, marriage equality!!!! On our way! #PeopleLikeUs #TieItUp”

Jessica Sanchez, who posted the following lyrics – “”We can’t care what they approve of, can’t let them tell us who to love” #MarriageEquality”

Adam Lambert – “Down w DOMA! Something to be very proud of this upcoming July 4th. We are making beautiful progress for Equality! #proud”

As a bonus Adam-related note, he’s featured in the music video here for Bonnie McKee’s “American Girl” along with a host of other stars including Carly Rae Jepsen and Jane Lynch. These three artists all have some great things coming up, and for Adam, there are still those pesky rumors about him being a judge on the Fox series next year. If you want it to happen, let’s hope you have your fingers crossed.
