‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6: Kurt Sutter confirms companion series a go

Sons of AnarchySons of Anarchy,” at least for this season, will be more than just “Sons of Anarchy.” There is also going to be some sort of additional show to go along with it, even if the finer details are still to be announced.

While you have probably heard details about this very thing for several weeks, creator / executive producer Kurt Sutter confirmed the news in his latest “WTFSutter” video (which you can subscribe to here). While he said that the final concept was not exactly what he was originally hoping to do, he was just glad that there would be something extra to accompany the show. (He did not say whether or not the series would be online, or would air on TV in a way similar to “Talking Dead” over on AMC.)

FX will probably put out an official announcement on Twitter, so stay tuned.

While the next part of the video is not anything in the way of scoop about the show, it’s still pretty awesome and helps show why Sutter, despite being controversial to many, is one of the best showrunners in the business when it comes to his fans. In this year’s Fan Challenge, he’s issued something pretty cool: If the ratings for the “Sons of Anarchy” premiere increase in either overall viewers or the 18-49 demographic, Sutter claims that he, along with at least one or two of the show’s stars, will fly out to a lucky fan’s hometown and actually watch the finale with them. We can’t say that many other people in his position have done this, and it should be good motivation for people to watch live. (If nothing else, we would just love the mental image of seeing the most random person ever, like someone who has no interest in most of the subject matter at all but who loves the show, winning and getting to hang out with these guys.)

Cool stuff, right? We think so. If you want to check out some more “Sons of Anarchy” season 6 scoop courtesy of one of the show’s stars in Maggie Siff, all you have to do is click here.
