‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7: A reason for Leonard – Penny fans to be hopeful?

Big Bang TheoryBefore we say too much about this “Big Bang Theory” article, we should preface it with this: Filming does not even begin for the new season for at least another month, and the season 7 premiere is on September 26. A lot can change between now and then, and the writers may have very interesting things in store for the characters, no doubt. (More will be revealed when it comes to particular ideas at Comic-Con, if the show follows recent trends.)

What we can talk about now is a sense of comfort that Leonard is going to have while trapped on a boat away from Penny … and did you ever think he was going to have that at the start of any season? While this is not a guarantee of anything when it comes to the direction of the pair’s relationship, Johnny Galecki told Gold Derby recently that a few simple words were enough to make Leonard okay with leaving, and allow him to be confident that nothing is going to get in their way in the meantime:

It took her more than five years to say it. That’s why now you know with Penny that whatever she does is real. You know when she said it she truly meant it. That’s why now Leonard is OK with going away and knowing that they’re going to be OK.”

The entire interview is pretty fascinating, as the conversation is largely Emmy-based and gives you some insight into some of Galecki’s character choices. Also, we’re quite a fan of how he seems to be well on his way to morphing into the young version of Mandy Patankin with this beard. (In reality, he probably grows it to develop a larger sense of anonymity in the summer months … which we definitely understand given how popular this show is.)

Do you think that Leonard and Penny will be fine when season 7 picks up? If you want to check out some more scoop from Raj on the show’s future, you can do so over here.
