‘The Lying Game’ season 3, like ‘Bunheads’ season 2 sees possibilities fade
Remember how we put ABC Family on blast last week for really leveraging the future of “Bunheads,” and putting the entire cast of this show on hold, based on the ratings for some of their new shows? Well, we really should have been doing the same for “The Lying Game.” The possibility of a season 3 hinges largely on what new shows “Twisted” and “The Fosters” do, which is not a great message to send to your viewers in that the best thing for “The Lying Game” would be one of the new shows faring poorly.
Well, we have yet another sign that shows that the series is in trouble. According to Soap Opera Digest, Tyler Christopher has been put on contract for his “General Hospital” role, which means that the time he would have to reprise his character on ABC Family would be minimal. This is never a good sign.
While ABC Family (as echoed by TVLine) has said that no firm decision has been made on the show’s future, Christopher signing this contract is an indication that he believes his other job will be going away. Sadly, we’re at this point starting to wonder the same thing. “Twisted” had pretty solid numbers for its premiere last week, and that was with it technically being a repeat. It also has done pretty well in terms of Twitter traffic.
Ultimately, we think that “Bunheads” has a slightly better chance at survival thanks to the awards-show buzz around star Sutton Foster, and with the series receiving a key tax credit, but even it could go either way.

If the lying game isn’t renewed im never watching ABC family shows again. They do this ALL the time. I have been waiting for the lying game to return since the season finale, they can’t end the show on such a huge cliff hanger and then not let us know what happens. This is ridiculous!

I really don’t get what the execs are thinking. They have more than enough space in their program lineup to accommodate the two new shows (Fosters & Twisted) while still keeping Bunheads and the Lying Game. They have plenty of space in their lineup to air all of their shows on at one time. How about having a 2 hour block of new TV on Thursdays – Bunheads followed by the Lying Game – or on Wednesdays and move their wonderful “comedies” (I meant that VERY sarcastically – their comedies suck- IMO) to Thursdays instead of constant movie re-runs (which they can run on Friday/Saturday/Sunday)?? Now IF this doesn’t work for them – rotating the shows is another way of making it work – (my 8 year old can understand these concepts!!). Simple solution – fans/viewers happy. I think that as fans/viewers we suffer because TPTB are SO out of touch with the way we consume TV shows these days. Gone are the days of having to chose which show you will watch due to having no way to watch more than one show during the same time slot (or maybe 2 if you had an extra TV and a VCR that you knew how to set up a recording). Personally I enjoy watching the Fosters (and will most probably continue to do so) but I stopped watching Twisted!!! If I have to chose between the new show and the Lying Game – I want the Lying Game to come back and in turn will not watch their new show that under different circumstances I would be watching. The Lying Game is one of the stronger shows in their line up and I think that they are shooting theirselves in the proverbial foot if they cancel it. All I can hope is that another network will pick the show up if they do make the colossal mistake of canceling it. This TV season as a whole has really opened my eyes to the wanton disregard that these network execs have for us the fans/viewers. They expect instantaneously huge numbers in the ratings (using an outdated method of epic proportion!!) and if they don’t get it who knows if the show will be around next week. They wonder why we don’t want to invest in new series?? How many good/great new shows premiered this fall/spring that are already gone?? Too many for me to count. I know there are many that I really came to enjoy only to be disappointed to find them cancelled and not given the chance to find their audience. By today’s standards Friends wouldn’t have made it past its first season – and look at it now. Still going strong (to an extent) in syndication. These networks need to hire people that not only care about numbers and financials – but care about giving us great, quality entertainment – and care about what we have to say. We are the most vocal – with all the social media platforms we now have – yet they ignore what we have to say – good or bad. I am just so very disappointed – yet AGAIN this television season. Change needs to occur – but how to make that happen – I just don’t know.

I hate when shows just end with a mystery… for shows that are canceling they should at the very least wrap up loose ends to help “us” the audience not be totally pissed! This network does this a lot !!

I am not watching the new shows on ABC Family this season in hopes that the Lying Game will be renewed. Seems like a contradiction for a network to pit its own shows against one another; interesting marketing……Fingers crossed that The Fosters or Twisted doesn’t pull in the viewers.

Ater a huge positive response from General Hospital fans, Tyler
Christopher has inked a new 3-year deal with the show to continue the
role of Nikolas Cassadine.
No need for worry by fans of ABC Family’s show “The Lying Game”. If
the primetime show is renewed, Tyler will continue the role of Dan
Whitehorse all the while earning his frequent flyer miles!
