‘Big Brother 15’ spoilers: First look at the new house; 16 contestants?

You’ve been waiting for the first look inside the “Big Brother 15” house, and now, the time for waiting is over. The Hollywood Reporter published some of the first high-resolution images today, and they certainly provide a sense that we are looking at a colorful, very retro locale.

It’s almost interesting first of all how despite it not being the 1960s anymore, shows like “Mad Men” and “Pan Am” seem to be desperate to have us clinging to a very particular place in time. This house feels in many ways like a throwback to those shows or the movie “Catch Me If You Can,” and it’s definitely a different look this year in comparison to some of the more modern / contemporary furniture that the house has displayed in the past.

You can see a collection of some of our favorite photos below from the tour, but this one has to be one of the more interesting. Why? The answer’s pretty simple: It suggests that there is a cast of 16 coming our way this season. For a show that promised to be bigger than ever, it’s a little strange that we would have the same exact number of houseguests as we have in the past. Maybe there’s another twist coming up, or some of these houseguests will stay along longer given that we are looking at a much longer season this time.

Some of the bigger changes to the house itself this time include a more circular kitchen, bright colors in the bedrooms, and a completely re-done backyard. We don’t see anything revolutionary in here that is going to factor into the game, unless there is secretly some super-modern house out there featuring an entirely different group of houseguests. The one exception? We haven’t seen any nomination chairs, and this could factor into the season’s twist.
