‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Rob James-Collier doubtful on Thomas’ future

While we don’t know per se that there is any sort of “villain” that is a part of the “Downton Abbey” cast, there are certainly a few characters who are a bit more wicked than others. For one example of that, just take a look at the master of scheming in Thomas. After being at times sympathetic last year courtesy of Jimmy nearly getting him fired / arrested, he may now be back to some of his old ways.

But could the character actually end up finding some sort of romance in the future? This is something that some fans out there likely still want as a means of softening the character up, but this is still also something that Rob James-Collier is not that confident we will ever see. Just check out what the actor had to say recently to E! News as some evidence on the matter:

“I can’t see it on the horizons, to be honest … He’s been unlucky in love. I mean, when you go around kissing men while they’re asleep you’re not going to get a positive response…You can’t go around doing that. It’s not the way to strike up a relationship.”

One of the issues that would come with Thomas having a new love interest is just trying to figure out who exactly would end up being with the character at the end of the day. Homosexuality is illegal in Britain during the time in which the show takes place, meaning that there aren’t exactly many people who are going to be willing to run that sort of risk.
