‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Series boss talks Desiree Hartsock’s future, ‘Bachelor Pad’

Bachelor PadIs “Bachelor Pad” really dead, after all? Despite ABC not bringing the show back this summer for more insanity, spit-swapping, and other gross things that we probably should not talk about here, Mike Fleiss still believes that there is a future for the show.

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly on their new radio show, Fleiss admitted that he is hoping for the network to bring the show back again next summer. So what was the reason for it not being on the air this year? It seems to be mostly a case of there not being enough interesting people around to justify a season. (Heck, last year they had to settle for some terrible superfans in a twist that flamed out very badly.)

What this news could do is create a great formula for the future of the show, one where they wait every two years, and then populate the pad with 16 or so cast members from the past four seasons. This gives the show an opportunity to book a number of interesting personalities from their most-recent seasons at a time when they are still remembered, and also have plenty of chances to think about twists.

As for what is currently on the air, Fleiss also said that Monday night’s new episode of “The Bachelorette” is at least one of the craziest of the past few years. This is where Desiree Hartsock has a surprise visitor in terms of someone’s girlfriend showing up, and he likens Chris Harrison’s role to that of Maury Povich. Fleiss also said that he is a big fan of the show’s ending, mostly because it is completely unpredictable and one of the craziest in many years.
