‘Breaking Bad’ season 5 video: The new teaser paints familiar message

Breaking BadRemember that “Breaking Bad” poster that we shared just yesterday? AMC has posted a brand-new promo to go along with it, and it basically says almost everything that poster does … albeit a little less effectively.

The ten-second video is being played across the network at the moment, and the major difference is that rather than having the text “all bad things must come to an end” read on the screen, it is instead said by the network’s long-standing disembodied voice. For us, this is problematic. While this may be a little bit more of an asset to the visually-impaired, hearing the famous theme music would still be enough to capture their attention. We just appreciate a minimalist approach for final-season promotion, and the voice takes us out of what is being shown. (With that in mind, you could say the same exact thing about the logo showing up at the very end here.)

The other reason we prefer the poster in this case is actually pretty silly, as we like the ambiguity that comes with seeing a rather strange cloud of smoke that almost looks like a monster (and not the one from “Lost”). We like to imagine it as the ghostly green spirit inhabiting Walter White.

The final episodes, as stated in the image, start on August 11, and will air every Sunday in succession until we have broken bad one final time. Expect tragedy, surprises, big turns, and potentially an ending that will have you talking for years to come.

What do you think about the way in which AMC is going about promoting the end of “Breaking Bad” right now? If you want to read more news related to the show, have no fear: We got it for you at this link.
