2013 Teen Choice Awards analysis: ‘Glee’s’ Chris Colfer vs. ‘New Girl’s’ Jake Johnson

Teen ChoiceIn our second day at looking at the comedies from the Teen Choice Awards, we are moving forward to the Choice TV: Actor portion of the field. It’s a really great group of guys, and we say that as three out of the five are probably likely nominees for Emmys later in the year as well. Of course, the irony is that none of them are favorites to win this award here. As we’ll stress until we’re blue in the face like a character from “Avatar” this awards show is all about the fan-bases, and about the people who are invested enough to cast their votes time and time again.

Want to cast your vote here? The poll below may give you a feel for how the general populace is leaning in this particular category. Also, if you want to read more, then be sure to check out all of our Teen Choice Awards coverage at this link!

The nominees – Chris Colfer, “Glee” (Fox), Jake Johnson, “New Girl” (Fox), Ashton Kutcher, “Two and a Half Men” (CBS), Jim Parsons, “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), Eric Stonestreet, “Modern Family” (ABC)

The favorite – It’s probably a two-person race between Kutcher and Colfer. We really don’t want to rule Ashton out because the TCAs have been good to him over the years, but how many of these voters are actually “Two and a Half Men” voters? We do still think that despite a polarizing season 4, Chris will get all of the support he needs and then some to pull this off.

Who should win – It’s a two-person race here as well between Stonestreet and Johnson, mostly because Sheldon Cooper’s shtick is starting to get a little old as the years go by. Jake is a personal favorite, mostly because we love Nick Miller as a character and find him to have so much heart. We also wouldn’t be against Eric winning, but we have to go with “New Girl” here for the sole reason that “Modern Family” already has enough awards under its belt.
