The Gilded Age season 2 premiere spoilers: Easter Sunday
It has been an extremely long wait to see The Gilded Age season 2 arrive on HBO, so isn’t it nice to know that it is almost here? This show is once again about wealth, but also about how characters want to present said wealth to the world. It is authentic in a way that few other shows aren’t, at least when it comes to showing a certain period of time in history.
So what will make this first episode worth the incredibly long wait? Well, the title here is “You Don’t Even Like Opera,” which makes a certain element of sense given that the opera is going to have an extremely important role to say in the early going here. Being a benefactor to such an institution was a sign of tremendous class and power, so it is a metaphorical horse that a lot of people out there want to be riding on.
Below, you can check out the full The Gilded Age season 2 premiere synopsis with some other details.
On Easter Sunday, Agnes informs Ada, Marian, and Oscar of her nephew Dashiell Montgomery’s imminent arrival in New York. In need of a change after an emotional visit to Philadelphia, Peggy asks Marian about returning to 61st Street. Meanwhile, Bertha sidesteps Mrs. Astor to support the Metropolitan Opera House, and Oscar begins courting Gladys once again.
The Easter Sunday setting also feels pretty darn perfect for the show, largely for the purpose of irony. After all, consider that for all the discussion of sacrifice and redemption associated with the holiday, it is also the day that redefines wearing “your Sunday best.” We wouldn’t be shocked if a significant chunk of this show’s budget is spent almost entirely on costumes alone.
