When we talked about the first promo for Ben Affleck’s “Saturday Night Live” featuring cast member Bill Hader, we mentioned that this may be seen as an opportunity for him to have one last opportunity to do one of these mini-sketches before riding off into the sunset. Now, could they be doing the same exact thing with Fred Armisen?
As you may have heard recently, Fred is reportedly planning to leave “SNL” after 11 years following this weekend’s show, and he unsurprisingly thus is seen in the new promo featuring both Affleck and musical guest Kanye West. While Armisen may be one of the more polarizing parts of the show, he is still a wily veteran, and thus, it only seems appropriate that he is handed one last moment in the sun before having to take a final bow.
As for this promo itself, it is probably okay at best. Most of the jokes are pretty lame, pretty obvious, and West (who was not present at all in the first sketch) looks fairly unhappy to be there while sporting a giant bandage on his head. Both the rapper and the “Argo” director have been on the show a number of times, but this is a night of firsts for them. This is Affleck’s first appearance since becoming a major player in the directing world, and it also serves as West’s first show since Kim Kardashian became pregnant with his first child.
What’s your take on this “SNL” promo, and are you going to be sad to see Armisen go? If you have not heard the latest about when Seth Meyers could be checking out, you can do so over at the link here.
