Only Murders in the Building season 4: Will Nathan Lane return?

Only Murders in the Building season 3

As we start to look more and more to Only Murders in the Building season 4 on Hulu, why not discuss Nathan Lane for a moment?

While it is true that we saw a number of notable names in season 3, the Broadway icon was ironically absent for a season all about the stage. (However, his frequent collaborator Matthew Broderick did have a funny role as himself.) Lane’s MIA status was largely due to his own work on the Great White Way at the time, but we know that Teddy Dimas is still out there. Not only that, but Mabel has been staying with his son Theo for the past little while.

So what are the chances that Teddy comes back for season 4? We’d put them somewhere between “moderate” and “high.” Given that Charles seems to have been the intended target of an attack at the end of season 3 (Sazz was killed instead), we do tend to think that this will be a chance to dive into both his past and also some of the people who would want to target him. Sure, Teddy’s had more beef with Oliver than Charles, but he was an important antagonist through a good bit of season 2.

Also, we do tend to think that so long as Theo (played by James Caverly) continues to be a part of this show, it makes some sense that we’d also see Theo at least mentioned. While it remains unclear how many seasons Only Murders in the Building will go on for, we strongly believe that John Hoffman and the writers will ensure that we will see Theo before the final curtain drops. It is mostly a measure of when and how that all comes about, so a little bit of patience is going to be required for us as a viewer.
