Remember “Bionic Woman”? Back in 2007, NBC made a bold attempt to create their own version of “Alias” while also remaking a classic action thriller from the past. Despite so much hype that even “Revolution” would feel intimidated, the show still fell apart after a few weeks of strong ratings. It was unfortunate, especially since both the show and star Michelle Ryan seemed poised to really take the reigns at the forefront of network drama.
Luckily, we’re thrilled that Ryan has landed another major gig now on a pretty high-profile show. According to TV Guide, the British actress will recur throughout the upcoming fourth season of “Covert Affairs” in the role of Teresa Hamilton, a new spy on the scene at the CIA who, as with almost all new characters these days, has some sort of mysterious past. We’re also guessing that this mysterious past probably does not have anything to do with being given special implants into her body after a terrible accident.
Ryan’s credits also include a number of top-notch British shows, including the soap “EastEnders,” “Merlin,” and also the new “Doctor Who,” which, if you haven’t seen it so far this season, you are missing out in a very big-and-bad way. Meanwhile, Ryan is joining Hill Harper, who will be playing the part of a Latin America CIA chief who attempts to bond with Annie.
The new “Covert Affairs” kicks off with new episodes on Tuesday, July 16 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, where it will be followed, interestingly enough, by another show filmed in Toronto in “Suits.” This is another series that we are excited about like a super-fan waiting in line for at sci-fi convention, and you can check out some more scoop on the future of this show just by taking your mouse over to the link here.
