‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Michelle Dockery’s Mary and reluctance to love

If you are an avid fan of all things “Downton Abbey,” then odds are that you are well aware already that there are some new men coming on board the show in an effort to start to shake things up when it comes to Mary’s love life. However, there is still a question as to whether or not Michelle Dockery’s character is actually going to be susceptible to being wooed.

While we don’t have the answer to that question just yet, what we can say is this: It is going to take a while in order for her to start to warm up to the idea. Speaking in a new interview with E! News in an effort to promote the season, here is what executive producer Gareth Neame had to say about what we can expect from the Mary character when the show picks back up:

“Mary is not on the lookout for any suitors … Mary is a woman in a state of deep bereavement and there’s no way she’s looking for anyone else. She is, nonetheless, a very beautiful and eligible young woman, so I have no doubt there’s going to be male interest in her…but she’s definitely not on the look for love.”

Mary is not going to be the only one dealing with some sort of romantic storyline in season 4. We already know that Edith’s romance with her newspaper editor is going to continue into the new season, just as there is also going to be some movement eventually when it comes to Tom Branson (though expect him to at least start off the new season focused on the new baby Sybil).
