NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: The Swon Brothers, Holly Tucker top Blake Shelton’s team

Blake SheltonLast night, we started off our contestant rankings for “The Voice” where we discussed where Judith Hill, Sarah Simmons, and some of the other members of Team Adam Levine stood. Now, we turn over to the two-time champion of the show in Blake Shelton.

In one way, Blake’s team is a little frustrating in that he basically disregarded everyone who was not a country artist, and stuck with what he knows best. (We’re not sure that we would pick him if we auditioned in a future season unless we were a country singer.) At the same time, he’s working with what he knows best, and it’s possible that he may be trying to assemble a group of people that he can really help in the future rather than artists who have very little crossover appeal.

We don’t know how big these fan followings are, so with that, we’re ranking based on the likelihood that Blake puts them through to the live rounds.

The rankings

4. Danielle Bradbery – Danielle’s a great singer and has a ton of talent behind her, but our major concern here is how Blake views the competition strategically. There are so many other young female singers this time around that it may benefit him to go with different personalities, unless of course she is the best by a pretty wide margin.

3. Justin Rivers – Meanwhile, there is no other male country star left in the competition. Justin hasn’t received a ton of airtime, but Blake has to know that he could be popular with the ladies in the live rounds.

2. Holly Tucker – The Baylor marching band member has a huge voice, and this alone should propel her. She’s also survived some very tough competition in the battle rounds and the knockouts, and it shows the sort of confidence that her mentor has in her.

1. Swon Brothers – We may be extremely off base here, especially since we though Midas Whale were favored to go far. It’s just been a while since we’ve seen a duo in the live rounds, and these two are rather great. Not only that, but being a duo in a sea of solo artists will help them to stand out.
