‘American Idol’ top 4 results: The bell finally tolls for Amber Holcomb

American IdolAmber Holcomb really cannot be too upset with herself right now, after all, she had a great run. She made it all the way to the final four on “American Idol,” and this is no easy feat regardless of the season or the competition.

In the end, you could really see the writing on the wall for this episode a mile away. You knew that she was probably going to be leaving the show based on the fact that she had been in the bottom multiple times before, and based on some middling reviews for one of her two performances. So what does Amber leave the show with? More than anything else, promises that she can be that “current” and exciting artist that the judges have talked about for weeks on end. She is probably the one of the four with the best chance of succeeding on pop radio, and she also may have the professional swagger to get the job done.

With her elimination, this does leave us with a top three that so many of us saw coming the moment the top 10 started: Candice Glover, Angie Miller, and Kree Harrison. This is a predictable end to what has been in many ways a predictable season, but we do have a feeling now that this is where the excitement level will be ratcheted up to yet another level. Everyone left has a genuine shot of winning, and while Angie is probably the favorite thanks to her never being in the bottom, it’s still anyone’s game to win or lose.
